Temporary Custody of Minors and Adoptions in Florida

Many children in Florida are living with an extended family member who, for whatever reason, is better able to care for that child than their natural parent. Unfortunately, they lack a legal document that explains and defines their relationship to the child, and they are unable effectively to consent to the care of the child by third parties.

If you find yourself caring for another family member's child, if they are old enough you will need to enroll the child in school. You may need to grant or withhold consent for a child to be tested or placed in special school programs, including exceptional education, get them medical attention, sign for them for extracurricular activities, and have the peace of mind that they have the legal right to care for that child.

Our firm will guide and assist you in obtaining the necessary legal papers to do all things necessary for the care of the child, including consent to medical and dental care, non-emergency surgery or psychiatric care. The laws regarding who can care for children in Florida are very complex and require the services of an experienced attorney, and we are here to help.
